Spray Wash Technology Revolutionises Swarf Cleaning for
Doncasters FVC.
Protecting the Environment, Health and Safety
in the Workplace, Reduction in Energy Consumption-All top priorities
for many companies in today's world, and all reasons why Aerospace
Suppliers Doncasters FVC, recently approached us at Technowash
looking for an eco-friendly method for cleaning steel swarf. As a
result Technowash designed a machine, which could now potentially revolutionize
cleaning methods within the recycling industry.
Doncasters
FVC were using gas burners to remove the oil and coolants from
swarf metal prior to smelting, but wanted something which would be
less hazardous both in terms of emissions to the atmosphere and
health and safety to the operator. As such Technowash has
developed a bespoke aqueous wash system, which is both
environmentally and operator friendly and drastically reduces
running costs.
The
new design uses simple ‘chip and wash’ aqueous technology,
which can be applied to both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
The innovative method uses a screw wash rotary drum, which
effectively tumbles
the components through three stages of the machine- an aqueous
wash stage, a rinse stage and an air dry stage.

The
results have been stunning, and as confirmed by Mark Walker at
Doncasters FVC, they are more than happy with their new machine.
Tony Grayson, Technowash Technical Director confirmed:
“The machine at Doncasters FVC was a challenging and new development
for us, and after some initial modifications it has proved to be a success in every way. We are very
pleased with the results.”
This
wash system is able to clean a vast array of metals including
titanium, steel, aluminium and copper. Furthermore the machines
are available with both feeding and unloading systems to ensure
ease of use. Tailor made equipment is also available to suit any
number of individual requirements.
Orders
have already started coming in, and the second of its kind is now
completed and currently waiting installation.

The End of Solvent
Degreasing? Finishing touches made to
Aqueous Alternative
As
the deadline for replacing the potentially harmful solvent
Trichloroethylene is looming ever closer, Technowash Director
Steven Price has announced that the finishing touches have been
made to our most comprehensive range of Aqueous Degreasing
Equipment ever.
Over the last two years the existing Aqueous range
has been completely overhauled, with the objective being to produce
degreasing machinery which is high performance, high quality, yet
safe - to the Environment and to the Operator.
As a result, the range now comprises of everything
from Single Stage, Multi Stage, Inline
Conveyors, Spiral Drum and Immersion Systems. In addition the
Aqueous technology has developed so much that now with high pressure
sprays and flushing forces, even traditionally hard to clean metals
are proving no problem.
This development has proved extremely successful,
and we have been instrumental in aiding many leading Aerospace and
Automotive companies make the transitional move away from solvent
degreasing.
There has also been a growing need for bespoke
equipment, and as such the team has worked hard to ensure we have
the capability to tailor make equipment to suit any number of
individual requirements.
Now as a finishing touch, from August we are
launching our stock of readily available second hand spray wash
equipment, refurbished to high specification in our own workshop.
Further details will be appearing on these pages, so be sure to
check back regularly for updates.

Biodegradable Detergent gets
Rolls Royce Approval
Newly
developed aqueous detergent Hydraclean AL has received full approval
to CSS204 by leading Aerospace Company Rolls Royce plc. A principal
technologist confirmed that it is now formally listed in the Rolls
Royce Manufacturing Laboratories Catalogue.
The detergent, which is totally biodegradable,
requires no hazard classification, ensuring no COSHH assessment
requirement for transportation, storage or handling. In addition its
high performance cleaning is operational at a low temperature making
it safe for Operators to use.
Rolls Royce plan to use the detergent in their
Aqueous Spray Equipment at both Derby and Hucknall sites.

Ultrasonic 'Sonica' range
proves to be a success.
Following
the launch last year of the new 'Sonica' range of Ultrasonic
equipment, early reports suggest that already this range is proving
to be a success.
The range which consists mainly of bench top
cleaners, has stirred great interest by many companies, in
particular those in the Automotive and Aerospace Industries
Technical Director Tony Grayson stated that the
popularity can most certainly be attributed to the technologies
proven ability to remove ingrained dirt from every area of a
component part without risking injury to Operator.
And now with the introduction of the new Sweep
System Technology providing an even higher central frequency, the
outlook for this range of Cleaning Equipment looks set continue to
rise.
